Stonemason Experts Since 1880 -Serving Kent, Surrey and Sussex

We design and install custom-made memorials and headstones

A Tradition of Care

For over 145 years, Burslem Memorials has helped families create lasting memorials that honour life, love, and memory.

From our workshop and showroom, we design, carve, and install memorials with care, knowledge, and continuity, working collaboratively with you through every stage.

At Burslem, you deal directly with experienced monumental masons. Not salespeople or intermediaries.

We listen first, explain clearly, and help you make informed choices about design, stone, lettering, and setting.

Our approach has remained unchanged since we began: Careful consultation, skilled craftsmanship, and responsibility for the work long after it is installed.

What Makes Burslem Different

True Monumental Masons — Not Middlemen

We are an artisan stonemason company with in-house skills that many others no longer have.

Design, stone selection, carving, permits, installation, and aftercare are all managed by our own team.

You can visit our showroom to discover our workmanship, carved by hand or shaped using modern CNC methods, depending on the design. Nothing is forgotten.

This means clarity, accountability, and a memorial made exactly as intended.

Consultation-Based Process

A Calm, Personal Approach

Every memorial design and stonework begins with a conversation, guided by experience.

We take time to understand:

Who the memorial is for
Where it will be placed
Ground conditions and long-term durability
How different stones will weather over time
Some families want a memorial that blends softly into its surroundings. Others want one that remains clear and prominent. We explain the practical implications honestly, so expectations are clear from the beginning, particularly when considering long-term maintenance and restoration.

This is memorial design and stonework guided by experience.

Craftsmanship and Materials

Memorials Made to Last

We work with a wide range of natural stones, including granite, limestone, sandstone, and traditional materials suited to churchyards and cemeteries.

Our specialist stone carving services include:

  • Hand-cut and machine-cut lettering
  • Traditional and contemporary memorial forms
  • Custom granite memorials
  • Carved ornamentation and sculpture

Some designs are digitally modelled; others are hand-drawn directly onto the stone — the traditional method used for fine lettering. The method is chosen to suit the memorial, not the other way around.

Experience You Can Rely On

Burslem Memorials is a small, highly experienced team.

Several of our masons have over 50 years in the trade.

We know local cemeteries intimately – often recognising memorials we installed decades ago.

We remember the work, the materials, and the families behind them.

We understand that if a memorial ever needs maintenance, or additional inscriptions, continuity matters.

We are BRAMM accredited and respected across the industry as trusted stone makers – quietly reliable, and here for the long term.
