A memorial is something that remains in place for many years. It needs to feel appropriate, sit well within its surroundings, and stand the test of time.
At Burslem Memorials, each piece is made to order. We guide you through the process carefully, helping you understand the options and what will work best for the setting, the material, and the long term.
Every location has its own character. In churchyards, memorials are often more traditional and must follow specific guidelines. In cemeteries, there is usually more flexibility in shape, size, and material.
The choice of stone plays an important role in how a memorial looks over time.
We work with a range of natural materials, including granite, limestone, and sandstone. Each has its own qualities and behaves differently as it weathers.
The way a memorial is inscribed is just as important as the stone itself. The style, depth, spacing and finish of an inscription all affect how clearly it can be read in future years.
We offer both hand-cut and machine-cut lettering, depending on the design, stone, and finish required. Some inscriptions are laid out digitally, while others are drawn directly onto the stone using traditional methods.
You are not passed between departments or third parties. We take responsibility for the work throughout.
Over time, there may be a need for cleaning, repair, or further inscriptions.
We carry out restoration and cleaning work, and also provide additional inscriptions where needed, ensuring consistency with the original lettering and material.
Continuity matters, particularly over many years.

We are a small, experienced team of monumental masons. Our work is carried out with care, attention, and a clear understanding of what will last.
We do not take a one-size-fits-all approach. Each memorial is considered individually, in terms of setting, material, and purpose.
